People in the Chester-le-Street district have been invited to take part in the UK’s biggest events of the year.
They are being offered the chance to put their stamp on the celebrations for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralymic Games and to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The initiative – Let’s Join In - is being organised by Chester-le-Street and District Area Action partnership.
The AAP will be offering grant of up to £500 to community and resident groups who come up with ideas for celebrating the milestone events. “The Olympics and the Jubilee are two of the biggest celebrations ever staged in the UK and many people will want to join in. We’ll be making grants available to support community initiatives enabling people to feel part of the national occasions,” said AAP co-ordinator Andrew Megginson.
An information drop in session will be held next week (February 23) between 4pm and 6.30pm to provide further information about ‘Let’s Join In.’
It will be take place in the Gloucester Suite in Chester-le-Street Civic Centre when potential applicants will be to get advice as well as pick up an application form. There will also be guidance on event planning and safety aspects.
