Chester-le-Street AAP takes to the road

Chester-le-Street and District Area Action Partnership has taken to the road in a ‘meet the people’ consultation exercise.

The AAP is effectively a bridge between Durham County Council and local communities and was one of 14 to be introduced after the county moved to unitary authority status.

The AAP board is made up of people from all sections of the local community and the new style of community engagement has proved effective.

Now the organisation wants to build on the work of the past two years and extend its involvement with local people, businesses and community organisations.

Over the next few weeks the AAP Roadshow will be visiting all parts of the Chester-le-Street district. AAP co-ordinator Andrew Megginson said: “ We have made good progress over the past two years and now we want to improve membership of the community forums we hold.

“The more people we get along to take part in the forums will enhance the debate of what is needed to improve community life. We are all looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at the forums in February and March.”

The AAP Roadshow exercise started on Friday at Chester-le-Street market Place and is scheduled to take in another nine dates:-

March 2 from 9am – 1pm                 The Fulforth Centre, Sacriston
March 7 from 6pm-7pm                   Pelton Community Centre, Pelton
